Today was one of the very few sunny days in the month of April as well as our warmest day of the year at 18 C. The entire month has seen very few days with above normal temperatures. Wet snow was seen on two separate occasions the first being the morning of the 14th then again on the 19th. Both of those mornings we had lows of +2 C. On the 19th along with the wet snow we had some afternoon hail. April definitely brings interesting weather as we also seen our first thunderstorm on the 18th which was accompanied by hail.
After a couple of sunny pleasant days, clouds, showers and cooler temperatures will return by tomorrow and for the remainder of the week.

More than 20 cm of Snow
It started to snow last night and continued through the overnight hours with some moderate to strong winds. Total snowfall amounts were in the 20-30 cm range for the Chilliwack area. Not as much fell in Vancouver due to the rising temperatures earlier in the morning changing the snow into rain.
By late morning we had some brief sun breaks then light rain started to fall and the winds picked up bringing the temperatures from 0 C to 6 C in a couple of hours. With temperatures forecast as high as 11 C on Friday with rain, the snow should be washed away rather quickly.

Sunshine but Cool
The sun was out today and the winds subsided making for a cool but pleasant day and a high of -4 C. It sure was a change from Monday when we seen very strong winds, numerous power outages throughout the day and mostly cloudy skies but it remained dry. Today's low was -10 C making it the coldest of the season although tonight is looking to be colder.
We are expecting sunny skies tomorrow with increasing clouds and a chance of late flurries with an excellent chance of snow on Thursday and highs struggling to make it near freezing.

Dry but Chilly
Although it hasn't been that cold in Chilliwack we have had high windchills making it feel uncomfortably cold. Friday night and into Saturday Vancouver got hit with a significant snowfall, as much 15 centimeters in some areas. Here we got nothing but this morning there were some flurries with moderate winds. There wasn't much evidence of the white stuff in Sardis but in Chilliwack there was some on the side of the roads and trace amounts on the grass.
The cold is expected to continue until Thursday when temperatures rise above freezing with snow possibly changing to rain. Tuesday and Wednesday are looking like the coldest with forecast lows near -10 C.
